Client Service Agreement & Liability Waiver

By booking an appointment with Top Dog KC, the Client agrees to the following terms and conditions:

1. General Agreement

Client certifies that they are the legal owner or authorized agent of the pet(s) listed in the booking and are authorized to enter into this agreement. Client agrees to provide accurate information regarding the pet’s health, behavior, and grooming history.

2. Health & Vaccination Disclosure

Client confirms that their pet is in good health and free from contagious diseases, parasites, or conditions that may pose a risk to staff or other animals. Client agrees to disclose any known medical conditions, sensitivities, injuries, or behavioral issues prior to service.

Top Dog KC reserves the right to refuse service to any pet deemed unsafe or unhealthy.

3. Injury Risk Acknowledgment (Pet)

Client understands that grooming involves inherent risks, including but not limited to cuts, nicks, or abrasions from grooming tools; skin irritation due to matting or pre-existing conditions; stress-related reactions; or unforeseen medical issues. Heavily matted or difficult pets carry increased risk.

Client understands that Top Dog KC makes no guarantees regarding the outcome of grooming services.

Client agrees that Top Dog KC and the Premises Owner shall not be held liable for injuries resulting from pre-existing conditions, undisclosed health or behavioral issues, or normal grooming procedures performed with reasonable care.

4. Aggressive or Difficult Behavior

Client must disclose any history of aggression, biting, anxiety, or behavioral issues. If a pet becomes aggressive or unsafe, Top Dog KC reserves the right to stop the service immediately, charge for the portion completed, and refuse future services.

Client assumes full responsibility for any injuries or damage caused by their pet to any person or property.

5. Owner & Premises Liability Waiver

Services are performed at a private residence owned by a third-party Premises Owner separate from Top Dog KC. Client assumes all risk for themselves, their guests, and their pets while on the property. Client agrees to supervise children at all times.

Client agrees not to hold Top Dog KC or the Premises Owner liable for slips, trips, falls, injuries, allergic reactions, or any incidents occurring on or around the premises. Client voluntarily waives any claims against Top Dog KC and the Premises Owner for personal injury or property damage during their visit.

6. Emergency Care Authorization

In the event of a medical emergency involving the pet, Top Dog KC will make reasonable efforts to contact the Client. If unreachable, Client authorizes Top Dog KC to seek veterinary care at the nearest available clinic. Client agrees to be fully responsible for all veterinary costs incurred.

7. Parasites & Sanitation

If fleas, ticks, or parasites are discovered, additional treatment fees may apply and service may be modified or terminated. Client is responsible for maintaining their pet’s hygiene and health prior to the appointment.

8. Payment Authorization

Client agrees to provide valid payment information at booking. Client authorizes Top Dog KC to charge for scheduled services, late cancellations, no-shows, additional grooming time, or required treatments. All sales are final unless otherwise stated.

9. Cancellation & No-Show Policy

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment, as well as no call no shows, will result in a fee equal to 50% of the booked service fee.

10. Photo & Media Release

Client grants permission for Top Dog KC to use photos or videos of their pet for marketing purposes unless Client requests otherwise in writing.

11. Hold Harmless & Indemnification

Client agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Top Dog KC, its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates, as well as the Premises Owner and any occupants of the property, from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

  • Injuries to the pet
  • Injuries to the Client, guests, or any third party
  • Damage caused by the pet
  • Any incident occurring on the property
  • Undisclosed health or behavioral issues

12. Property Owner Protection

Client acknowledges that grooming services occur at a private residence owned by a third party separate from Top Dog KC. The Premises Owner is not responsible for any aspect of the grooming services. The Premises Owner is expressly named as a third-party beneficiary of this agreement and is fully released from any liability related to pet injuries, Client/guest injuries, property damage, or any other incident on the premises. Client enters the property at their own risk.

13. Acceptance of Terms

By booking an appointment, checking the agreement box, or signing electronically, Client confirms that they have read and fully understand this agreement, accept all risks associated with the grooming services, and agree to all terms.

Client acknowledges that this agreement extends full legal protection to both Top Dog KC and the Premises Owner, regardless of ownership or operational roles.

14. Governing Law & Severability

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. It is the intent of the parties that this agreement be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If any provision of this agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
